Looks like Sprint withdrew their offer to buy T-Mobile
This undoes a whole epic of speculation that we now don’t have to think about. What would have been the biggest merger in cellular telephony since AT&T merged with Cingular, is now just a dream. The deal which would have been worth more than 20 billion would have undergone a tremendous amount of regulation even if the deal had gone through and presumably this is one of the reasons Sprint withdrew their bid. On the other hand it’s possible that this was just a way to boost stocks during the slowest time of year and pump up the Q2 numbers where other mobile carriers might be in purgatory or periods of slow growth. Either way, the controlling interests at Japanese Softbank which were very vocal about acquiring T-Mobile now remain silent.
