OLED iPhone 8 with a curved display and touch-sensitive tech

It’s almost the end of a really tough year 2016. Wouldn’t it be funny if you got to New Years Eve and instead of starting 2017 we go into 2016 S? That’s a little bit what it felt like when users got their hands on the new iPhone 7. We know that Apple was super busy working on all new technologies including dual-cameras, a new touch button & fingerprint scanner. The new iPhone 7 however left many users wanting and made many techies feel depraved of new technologies that are already appearing in Samsung and Google phones. So what can we expect from the next iPhone?

Trends

Looking at the direction Apple has taken with their most recent launches, we’ll most likely see several iPhone models debut all at once. I think it’s likely we’ll see a standard 4.7″-5.0″ screen for the regular model and a plus sized model (which will sell better in Asia). A report today however reveals that we might be in for a surprise with curved screens. Apple committed an enormous amount of money along with Samsung and LG (read about it here) into OLED screen technology. OLED offers pliable and curved screen technologies and is something we can start to expect seeing in 2018 according to Bloomberg news. Is it fair to say that curved displays are in? All signs currently point to yes.

Consider this quote found on Macrumors:

The OLED version of the new iPhone will all be curved as Apple ordered all plastic OLED — not glass — from Samsung Display. Samsung is capable of supplying a little less than 100 million units of curved OLED displays to Apple, a source familiar with the matter told The Korea Herald.

In the same report, the upcoming iPhone is rumored to have touch-sensing technology so that the screen can be activated when you touch it’s sides and rumor has it that the screen will stretch all the way around the iPhone. Personally, I’ll be happy when wireless charging comes to the upcoming iPhone because if you ask me the iPhone 7 definitely should have had wireless charging. Take a look and see what OLED can do:
