Laptops are transforming before our eyes (Literally)

Every year there’s a huge conference for all the big dog PC companies in the best place you’ve never heard of, Taipei. HP, Dell, Asus, and all the other members of the PC family get together and mostly determine how they’re going to come closer to developing the almighty “Macbook Killler” the same way you might expect mobile phone providers do to compete with the iPhone. This years products have gathered to exhibit small profile tablet/laptop hybrids, face detecting laptops, 4k screens and so much more. Here are the results!

ASUS Transformer Book T100HA

T100HA.0 ASUS TRANSFORMER BOOKWow, this laptop looks amazing at first glance. This is one of Asus most successful products in years which is similar to the Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It’s a full on touch screen tablet with Windows pre-installed on it featuring a detachable keyboard and it’s everything you want form a PC. Its about 20% thinner than the previous version they released last year and it will have Windows 10 pre-installed by default. There’s also really strong magnets on this one which will help with the keyboard docking to make sure you get a really great fit as you would expect to feel using a regular laptop. The screen measures diagonally at 10.1″ with a native resolution of 1280 x 800 and has a manufacturer rated 11-hour battery life thanks to new developments with batteries and LED lighting technology. It also features the new USB Type-C port so you’ll get super fast transfer speeds with portable hard disks and it will charge your phone super fast. Out of the box you’ll get 4GB of memory and 128 GB of storage.

The XPS is a larger version of the XPS13 which was so popular just two years ago. Gizmodo rated the XPS 13 the “Windows laptop to beat.” It appears this version will be a continuation of what we’ve seen in the past and if that’s truly the case, the outlook is very strong:

Hi-Def 4k Screen

Intel Skylake Processor

Acer Z3-710

acer z3-710What a familiar design. By now Apple fanboys are switching to a different webpage. For those PC lovers who stuck around, you’re in for some great news. It may look like an iMac imitation made by Acer but the reality is that that it’s a full-on tablet with a built-in mount for sitting on a desk and a traditional mouse and keyboard connected wirelessly. The tablet is just 1.4″ thick and is expected to be around 12″-14″ in terms of screen size featuring touch-screen capabilities and possibly a 4k resolution though the details remain unconfirmed on the production model. We don’t even have a price range on this one yet because it’s so new. To be clear, the touch screen will be separable from the desktop mount.
