Could the Apple car be a BMW?
Earlier this year news surfaced about Apple wanting to get into the space of designing autonomous cars. Their goal seemed to be launching a car that becomes the iPod of the car world and it seems they targeted BMW based on their i3 electric car. As it happens right now German magazines reported that negotiations already took place and Apple was interested mainly in the body design and fuel economy considering that it gets about 80 miles of driving range on a single charge.
What does Apple want with the i3?
“Apple executives were impressed with the fact that we abandoned traditional approaches to car making and started afresh. It chimed with the way they do things too.” Says a senior at BMW according to 9to5mac. What appears clear at this point is that Apple as a company is trying to overhaul their presence not just with electronics but they ultimately want to supply people with a range of synergistic devices across a broad spectrum that humans use as tools to navigate their lives. It started with MP3 players and phones and they could move onto cars, manufacturing, commodities transportation, drones and more. The company was reported last week by Wall Street Journal to have more cash than any other company on the planet. Maybe they’ll get into banking too?
